World Of Thanks:

“The max’s kansas city project allowed me to pay my rent and have a place to live when I was faced with being homeless. It is because of the project’s caring spirit that artists have somewhere to turn in their hours of desperation. Bless you all!”

“As an old “regular” of Mickey’s haven, I know this was given in the Spirit with which Mickey ran Max’s, supporting the people who are working hard at their art and who were sometimes not able to make ends meet. Max’s Kansas City project is an important support system. I am sure they will be able to save some very worthwhile and creative souls in their endeavors, and make it possible for the rest of the world to experience art that may not have been able to be produced otherwise.”

“I happily stand and sing praises to the work that the max’s kansas city project is doing to help artists in need. Last fall I received a small but meaningful grant that helped me meet my rent for the month. May this important foundation continue to help artists in need now and in the future.”

“I was very fortunate to receive a grant from the Max’s Kansas City project this fall. I am a conceptual performance artist….my co-parent fell seriously ill and was unable to help with cost and emotional support of raising our three daughters . Simultaneously, several free lance jobs fell through and within two months my house was in default and all my resources gone. In this economy safety nets are a rarity. I felt an alliance with Max’s history and saw the institution and had always seen the artists and musicians that were part of that heritage as family and ancestry. There are few places to receive emergency funds for artists and even fewer for performance artists. The generous funds received enabled me to keep my home and for that I am eternally grateful.”

“I was a fortunate recipient of financial help from the max’s kansas city project for bills from a hospitalization. I am a dancer and lived in New York City for almost nine years. Like many artists I struggle to make a living. When taken ill this past May, I was financially burdened with hospital bills and had no income for some time thereafter until recovery. I had read about the max’s kansas city project in the New York times and applied for emergency funds. After meeting with two representatives for an project, they granted my financial assistance and I felt a great weight lifted off my shoulders. I am incredibly grateful for their help.”
